TRIBOO, STUDIO WAE AND VANHIER TOGETHER LAUNCH CIRCULAR FURNISHING CONCEPT WITH UNIQUE DESIGN - NEVERENDING FURNITURE ROOTS AND RUGS

TRIBOO, Studio Wae and VanHier, three circular frontrunners, who innovatively transform waste into high-profile furnishing elements, together introduce a spectacular locally produced furniture concept from residual streams and natural materials to the Dutch market. The NeverEnding Furniture Roots and Rugs.

The circular furnishing concept is a combination of a 3D printed standing table and modular rug. Hereby a unique design was designed, by Studio Wae, which was applied in the finish of the table top and the pattern of the rug. TRIBOO's #greengridz tabletop is finished with a VanHier biolaminate, made from natural fibers from local agricultural residues. The laminate is cut to size and inlaid on the round top with a diameter of 90cm. The top is attached to a 3d printed table base made from waste from local hemp and PLA. The high-profile NeverEnding Roots stands on a rug designed and made by Studio Wae. This special rug not only features a unique design with geometric shapes but is also made from production waste from Interface, a large carpet tile manufacturer. You are the architect of your own rug, determine the shape, size and color combination. Create your own Wae!

The result of this sustainable cooperation does not lie. Less material, less CO2 emissions and less waste. Below is a list of the sustainable benefits:

The 3D printed table base made of local Hemp which is bonded with PLA. PLA is the name for thermoplastic polymers made from lactic acid. They are biodegradable, biocompatible and produced from renewable plant resources (corn starch or sugarcane). It is a sustainable alternative to traditional plastics made from petroleum chemicals such as polyethylene, polypropylene or polystyrene. The base material is 100% reusable.

The base of the table is printed on demand and can be transported to other countries via the digital highway in milliseconds, without using truck, boat or train. This is already possible in the Netherlands, Belgium, Slovakia, Abu Dhabi and Australia. More locations will follow.

The innovative #GREENGRIDZ tabletop is made in Zevenhuizen with between 60 and 90% less material and 60% less CO2 emissions than traditional heavy tabletops made of solid chipboard, mdf and plywood. At the end of their useful life, the tops can be returned after which, through pyrolysis, active carbon is made from them to fill water and air filters.

The biolaminate is made in the Green Heart and is a 100% natural, thin and thermoformable material which is applied as a furniture finish with a decorative effect where the fibers remain visible. An important ingredient of the laminate is cellulose from elephant grass. Elephant grass can be harvested every year and stores four times more CO2 per hectare than a hectare of trees.

The modular carpet tiles are made in Bunnik. They are manufactured entirely from production waste, without using new raw materials. The CO2 reduction is 64.6 kilos per m2 and the raw material reuse is 100%. The rugs are made with social impact. In addition, the rug is modular and easy to adjust if the space changes through a unique flexible click system.

The circular entrepreneurs have ambitious goals to make an impact together in reducing the 11,000,000,000 kilograms of furniture that is thrown away as fast furniture every year in Europe and 90% is burned. They are brimming with energy and working together to create a future without waste. Together, Marc van der Heijden, founder and director, of TRIBOO, Tynke van den Heuvel, founder and director, of Studio Wae and Klaske Postma, founder and director, of VanHier want to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and society without waste for all by making it available today for applications in offices, schools, stores and hotels.

Material

#GREENGRIDZ

#GREENGRIDZ is a circular furniture construction panel. The lightweight construction consists of a patented GRID system. This makes the panel super stiff, does not warp and is very strong.

3D Printed Thermoplastics

BioM

BioM is a thin, moldable & bendable material which is used as furniture and interior finishes. A bio laminate with a decorative effect; BioM is scratch resistant. In addition, the material is recyclable, (garden) compostable and moisture removable; suitable for indoor applications. It is possible to finish the BioM panels with natural color coating, leaving the natural fibers visible.

3D Robot Printing

CNC

Computer Numerical Control or CNC for short refers to the process of removing material with high-speed precision machines that use a wide range of cutting tools. These machines are used to process materials such as wood, plastics, stone, composites and metal to make circular office furniture.

Handmade

Made by hand in the Netherlands. Innovative craftsmanship resting on years of experience and love for making furniture. With passion for the most sustainable and circular materials, raw materials are extracted from waste streams and shaped into high-profile interiors. Professional craftsmen skilled in working with wood, metal, plastic and textiles.

What started with viewing a 3D printed tulip vase and then driven by commitment and enthusiasm, many more circular solutions turned out to be possible, which were eventually realized in the building. TRIBOO gave "working together on housing" a much broader dimension and a story to go with it.

Pieter and Peter find it very interesting and fun to work with TRIBOO. They deliver products that are completely in line with our circular objectives. They take us along in the development and knowledge of materials, binding techniques and modular constructions made on Dutch soil. They simply show us what it is made of and that appeals. They also help us tell "the circular story".

Massaro: 'We chose this furniture because it is made of worthless waste that would otherwise have made a negative impact on our planet. Now the waste has become cool and fun furniture. All those thousands of employees and visitors who will be using the rooms will see the story, read it, and may be inspired to do the same'.
