Visibility of circular products in the work environment is an important step toward changing the mindset on how we should handle raw materials.
When you enter Sweco Middelburg, you are recently surprised by a high-profile circular reception area made from waste. Richard Koops Business Developer City of the Future and sustainability manager at Sweco explains. We advise daily on the transition to circular economy and waste-free cities. The practical applications that are already making this possible we therefore like to show to our clients and our colleagues. Visibility of circular products in the daily working environment is for us an important step towards a different mindset on how we should deal with raw materials.
Together with Triboo we created a new design for the interior of the reception area. A space where our guests can get acquainted with circular thinking and circular acting while waiting. The furniture adds use value to the space with the knowledge that the products can be reused endlessly and we have stored them 'temporarily' in our office. We make it tangible and understandable for everyone.
I am extremely pleased with the result in which not only reusable raw materials are presented but also how circular thinking is applied in the design and technical elaboration. With an eye on the entire life cycle, maintenance and disassembly at the end of its useful life were considered. The unique fastening materials and production techniques for the cabinet, lounge chairs and coffee tables caught the attention of many an engineer. Circular building is suddenly no longer about waste and recycling but about cool technical solutions.
You see that appealing examples inspire people and lead to discussion. Incredibly proud and grateful that this is helping us take circular thinking and circular action a step further and work towards a future-proof society.
