TRIBOO and Plantics have teamed up to develop the #greengridz HEMP: a unique natural tabletop. The innovative lightweight panel is made from Dutch hemp fibers and a unique natural binder. The healthy panel is therefore 100% plant-based, fully recyclable, CO2 negative and safe because it contains no harmful petroleum-based binders. By combining two revolutionary Dutch innovations, this unique tabletop is now a reality and available on the market.
The first products in the collection are circular meeting tables in various sizes and a height-adjustable workstation for the office or home. They are available in various colours and sizes.
Plantics 'Superior Natural Materials' are based on a revolutionary invention by the University of Amsterdam with which Plantics has developed a unique new family of thermo curing bio resins and materials. The resins are produced from local plant residues and are the world's first 100% biobased thermosetting resins. Because plants capture and store CO2 from the air and the production process is energy efficient, Plantics biomaterials are CO2 negative. Moreover, the bio-resins are safe and the raw materials are available on an industrial scale in most countries in Europe.
#greengridz is a healthy and circular furniture construction panel. The composition of the lightweight construction consists of a patented GRID system. The panel can be assembled from various upcycled waste flows of natural cellulose fibres. The GRID system makes the construction panel stronger and stiffer than any solid panel currently available on the market. The material does not bend, making it easy to construct long structures for furniture and building applications. In addition, the panel is 100% flat. The perfect finish without unevenness ensures a sleek appearance. Depending on the thickness of the panel, between 60 and 90% less raw materials are needed than with traditional solid furniture panels. The CO2 emissions are even 60% lower. It is made in the Netherlands and because of its light weight, less fuel is used during transport while 50% more volume can be transported.
TRIBOO BV was founded in 2016 and is based in Zevenhuizen. With revolutionary innovations and pioneering techniques, they transform 'worthless' waste streams, from plastics and natural fibres, into 'valuable' circular office furniture. TRIBOO makes an impact in radically changing and making the furniture industry more sustainable. In 2020, it was recognised by being nominated for the Oscar among entrepreneurial awards, the Koning Willem I plaque, as one of the 12 most sustainable companies in the Netherlands. The European Commission also named TRIBOO as a Rising Star at the European Business Awards for the environment in the products and services category. One to watch and standing out for bold leadership towards a sustainable economic recovery for Europe, well aligned with the priorities of the European Green Deal.
Plantics B.V., founded in 2014 and based in Arnhem, the Netherlands, is a spin-off from the University of Amsterdam that is building on a revolutionary invention of this university. This has resulted in unique 100% biological thermosetting resins and the world's first thermosetting biomaterials. Together with its partners, it develops high-quality, circular and CO2-negative products. Plantics is on the verge of enormous growth and is increasingly recognised as a game changer. For example, in 2021 Plantics, together with its partner VEPA, was chosen as winner of the global innovation award "Renewable Material of the year 2021" in a competition organised by the leading German nova-Institute. In the same year, the Financieele Dagblad put Plantics at no. 1 as a promising Climate start-up to keep an eye on.
