Per desktop, 18 kg less material, 60% less CO2 and 2.5 kg of recycled clothing saved from the incinerator.
Never before have we bought as many clothes as we do now and never before have we discarded them so quickly. Fast fashion resulting in an unprecedented mountain of waste. Annually, approximately 145 million kilos of clothing end up in the Dutch rubbish. The average Dutchman now buys 46 pieces of clothing annually and throws away 40. This means that per person we throw away 14 kilos of clothing, the majority of which goes straight into the incinerator or ends up on landfill.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could turn these worthless clothes into valuable products again. Products that people can enjoy and that the raw materials can once again play a role in our daily lives. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to make a contribution to reducing waste, reducing CO2 and the practical realisation of the circular economy. With the old fashion workplace, you set the wheels in motion towards a waste-free society.
TRIBOO and PLANQ join forces to launch the OLD FASHION workstation for home or office. Two circular products from the Netherlands come together in a sustainable solution. The #greengridz furniture construction panel with a healthy mission and PlanqTextile, a laminate made from recycled clothing, bound with a biological binder, together form the Old Fashion desktop.
The Old Fasion height adjustable sit-stand workstation equipped with a lightweight #greengridz desktop in a size 1600x800x24mm saves 18 kilos of material compared to a solid desktop made of chipboard or plywood. Finished with recycled clothing, 2.5 kg of discarded textiles are not burned but find their way back as valuable raw materials to finish desks and conference tables.
The clothes we wear every day ensure that we can do our work safely and professionally. Most people consciously choose a particular profession. With the clothes we wear, we identify ourselves and send out a clear message to others. From now on, this is also possible with the Old Fashion workplace, a desk for at home or at the office, which is finished with the clothes that we have proudly worn in the exercise of our profession. The standard #greengridz desk can be finished with tough jeans, practical army clothes, doctor's coats, tailor-made suits for businessmen or flight attendants' suits.
#GREENGRIDZ is a healthy and circular furniture construction panel. The lightweight construction consists of a patented GRID system. This makes the panel super stiff, does not warp and is very strong.
The innovative GRID requires between 60 and 90% less raw material, depending on the thickness of the panel, than traditional solid furniture panels such as chipboard, mdf and plywood. The material is no longer needed to make a strong furniture panel. This prevents the use of raw materials, and it doesn't get more sustainable and circular than that.
The CO2 emissions during the production of #GREENGRIDZ are 60% lower than for solid furniture panels. Due to the light weight, 50% more volume can be transported compared to traditional solid panels. This significantly reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The weight per m2 of a 38 mm furniture panel is approximately 18 kg for plywood, 25 kg for chipboard and 8 kg for #GREENGRIDZ.
The GRID system makes the construction panel stronger and stiffer than any solid panel currently available on the market. It does not bend, so that long constructions for furniture and building applications can be constructed easily. In addition, the panel is 100% flat, which means that a perfect finish without any unevenness ensures a sleek appearance.
#GREENGRIDZ contains no toxic substances, is CARB2 certified and biodegradable. This means that it meets the highest requirements when it comes to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as formaldehyde. In addition, the light weight spares the backs of the people making, carrying and assembling furniture and makes many happy faces. The panel can be assembled from various types of cellulose waste streams.
The construction panels can be designed for any application that is required. The shelves, supports, top and bottom plates can be made in different thicknesses, height distances and patterns. Also with improved moisture resistance and fire retardancy. As standard, the #GREENGRIDZ are available in thicknesses from 20 to 200mm and in industrial lengths up to 4010mm. Some examples of #GREENGRIDZ applications are worktops for desks, tables, kitchens, acoustic screens, cabinets, furniture, doors, wall systems, thick floors, signage, kitchens, stands for exhibitions, shop fitting and interior decoration.
The innovative basic material can be made of different materials depending on the application and specifications. This makes it easy to keep up with developments in the market for healthy natural materials and to stay at the forefront of the development of healthy and circular furniture. In #GREENGRIDZ valuable healthy raw materials and CO2 in the form of biomass are safely stored. As furniture, the panels last a long time, but when they are returned for reuse, the construction panel is also a practical logistic carrier for the return logistics to the manufacturer.
The engineers and technicians at #GREENGRIDZ are constantly working on innovations in materials, binding technology and construction. As an adapter, innovative materials can be integrated into the furniture construction panel. Exclusive access to our own recyclable materials and ground-breaking innovations from the market can be adopted flexibly, simply and quickly. Natural cellulose fibres from waste streams form the basis of all developments. The cellulose raw material changes over and over again into a different circular product. A desktop is the raw material for a kitchen, is the raw material for a wall, is the raw material for a cupboard or is the raw material for a desktop again.
PlanqTextile is a veneer made from textile waste. Textiles are shredded into fibres, which are carded into a felt material. This is pressed with a biodegradable binder into sheets of 1000x3000mm. The veneer sheet is applied to Old Fashion desks and conference tables, glued with reversible glue and made to be reused again.
The Planqtextile material shows how a unique furniture design is made from this recycled material. The textile fibres can be seen as the veins of a marble table top. Each table is therefore unique. Durable marble, made of textile.
