Sweco reduces CO2 footprint of office furnishing by 60% through healthy workplace made out of waste

One kilo of EverUse contains one kilo of CO2. With 55 acoustic screens at the workstations, you remove 220 kilos of CO2 from the environment.

When you walk into Sweco's newly refurbished circular office in Zwolle, it is a beautiful and, at first glance, normal office. But that is far from the truth. Nothing is what it seems. All the furniture is upcycled from natural and synthetic waste fibres. It is healthy, has a CO2 footprint 60% lower than traditional office furniture and is 100% circular.

Sweco wants to lead the way in realising the zero-waste society and becoming a circular economy. They design and develop the societies and cities of the future. Kitty Sluisman, facility manager at Sweco, told us.

We want to offer the people who work at Sweco and the clients who enter our building every day a high-profile environment that challenges them to look at everyday things differently. The circular products of TRIBOO fit this perfectly.

HEALTHY WORKPLACE WITH #GREENGRIDZ HAS 60% LOWER CO2 FOOTPRINT AND STORES CO2.

In order to create a healthy and responsible workplace for SWECO employees, the desks were equipped with #GREENGRIDZ desk tops. The lightweight construction consists of a patented GRID system. The panel consists of upcycled cellulose waste. The CO2 emissions are 60% lower than a traditional solid chipboard desktop and free of volatile organic compounds. The proof is the CARB2 certification which is the highest standard for formaldehyde.

EVERUSE ACOUSTIC PANELS ABSORB SOUND, ARE CRADLE TO CRADLE AND MADE OF CO2

The acoustic screens between the desks are made of EverUse. An upcycled circular product with CRADLE TO CRADLE certification, made of cellulose fibres from paper and cardboard waste streams. Cellulose=CO2. The CO2 is stored in the workplace. Your desk is no longer just a functional piece of furniture but also a storage place for CO2. EverUse has a negative CO2 footprint of -1 kg CO2/kg product. To give an example: one kilo of acoustic insulation material Ever Use contains one kilo of CO2. An EVERUSE acoustic panel contains about 4 kilos of circular material. For the office, which is equipped with 55 workplaces, this means that you remove 220 kilos of CO2 from the environment. The office thus becomes a valuable raw materials bank.

WASTE = VALUTA

Together with Sweco, we take responsibility as a value chain for our high quality raw materials. When Sweco is done with it, we continue. For example, when EverUse is removed from the office, we will weigh the volume in Sneek and pay back the raw material value per kilo. This is only possible because we, the producer, can actually reuse the raw material in our factory in the Netherlands.

We then ensure that the EverUse raw material finds its way back into another application in an office or building in the form of flakes, mats or panels. We throw nothing away anymore and raw materials are never lost again. Waste does not exist!
