When we think of a healthy office, everyone thinks of ergonomics. But no one thinks about the impact of toxic materials on our health.
When we think of a healthy office, everyone thinks of ergonomics. But no one thinks about the impact of toxic materials on our health. While those toxic materials in the form of office furniture have invaded our offices like stealth killers. In the race to the bottom, we have allowed more and more cheap, bad and toxic materials into our office; the place where we spend most of the week when we are awake. And this is having a dramatic effect on our health.
Chipboard and chipboard. Cheap and strong. And traditionally rich in added formaldehyde. This toxic substance causes a 10% loss of productivity and in time can cause leukemia and lung and throat cancer.
In addition, all products made from these materials turn into waste costs, we cannot and do not want to reuse them at the end of their life.
It's time for a new pair of glasses. Not just looking at price, aesthetics and functionality. But rather to value and health. We need to get rid of workplaces that make you weak or sick. But create environments where people stay vital.
Many organizations have a free banana or apple for employees. But in the meantime, everyone is sitting at a formaldehyde workstation. We can and should go much further and make an even greater impact by prioritizing healthy, reusable materials in our buildings and workplaces.
Sweco takes responsibility as an employer and, together with TRIBOO, changes all unhealthy, worthless furniture in its offices for healthy, valuable and circular furniture. Instead of traditional desks, healthy, circular desks with tops made of GREENGRIDZ were chosen.
#GREENGRIDZ is a healthy and circular furniture panel. The construction of the lightweight structure consists of a patented GRID system. The panel can be assembled from various upcycled waste residual streams of natural cellulose fibers.
The panel makes an important contribution to the healthy working and living environment without volatile organic substances such as added formaldehyde. The CARB 2 certification is proof of this.
In addition, less raw materials are needed, it is biodegradable and the CO2 emissions are 60% lower than traditional panel materials. It is made in the Netherlands and due to its light weight we also use less fuel in transport, which further reduces CO2 emissions.
The first 100 sit/stand workstations with circular tops have been installed at locations in the Netherlands. More will follow later this year.
Do you want to make a difference, too? Show circular leadership. Make the circular economy a reality together with us and bring healthy working into your organization. Together we will change all unhealthy, worthless furniture in the Netherlands for healthy, valuable, circular furniture. Contact us for the possibilities.
