SWECO USES PURCHASING POWER TO ACCELERATE CHANGE TO A CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Being part of the change ourselves is important to us. We want to see this in our office design, so that it doesn't just remain a story,

A great example on how to use purchasing power against waste is the commissioning of 105 NOTRASH circular waste sorting stations. In doing so, Sweco is turning 1,575 kilograms of worthless waste into 105 valuable circular products!

Being part of the change is important for us and our employees. We also want to see this reflected in our office design so it doesn't just remain a story, says Kitty Sluisman, facility manager at Sweco.

We are actively involved in the transition.

We are doing everything we can to make steps forward in this regard. By taking responsibility we are moving from linear products that create waste to circular products that create value and money. In a relatively simple way, with our choice and purchasing power, we accelerate the change to a circular economy and a waste-free society. In doing so, we are reducing the waste mountain and reducing CO2 emissions. We like to do our part to stop the waste.

The simple math.

To make one NOTRASH module, 15 kg of plastic waste is processed. If the waste is separated into VGF, paper, plastic, remainder and cups, 5 modules are needed. This means that with each circular waste separation station, 75 kilos of worthless waste is transformed into a valuable circular functional product. 75 kilos that are no longer burned causing CO2, no new raw materials are mined causing CO2.

At the end of the useful life, we receive the raw material value back.

The module consists of 9.5 kilograms of high quality recycled plastic fibers stored as a valuable raw material. The current raw material value per module is 5.13 euros. Should the demand for raw materials rise and with it their price, we will profit from this just like an investment. Based on supply and demand, the commodity index is adjusted daily just as we do now with gold and silver. We don't throw gold in the garbage, from today on our valuable commodities aren't either!

No more waste

With TRIBOO's NOTRASH, we transform plastic raw materials that normally end up in landfills and incinerators into functional circular waste separation stations. The high quality raw materials are stored in the modular waste units. The office and building become a healthy bank where our raw materials are safely used and preserved for future generations. When the products are no longer used aesthetically or functionally we turn the same raw material into another high-profile circular product that fits within the identity and business operations of the organization.
