NEW AT TRIBOO: BARK TEXTILES AS MOTHER EARTH INTENDED

The close symbiosis between man and tree bark is ancient. The oldest textile on earth comes back to life.

TRIBOO is always looking for healthy and reusable furniture applications when it comes to material, binding and constructions. Often these are modern innovative techniques but sometimes you find out that the best products of mother earth date back to the beginning of mankind and thus come from nature. On our search for high-profile and ecological finishes, we fell in love with textiles made from tree bark. The oldest textiles on earth are coming back to life.

HUMANITY'S OLDEST TEXTILE AND UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE.

Tree bark fleece from Uganda is considered the oldest textile in human history. Widely used until the end of the 19th century. The best textiles were reserved for the luxurious clothing of the princes of the second oldest dynasty on earth, the nearly thousand-year-old kingdom of Buganda.

MASTERPIECE OF ORAL AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE

The handmade manufacture of the bark cloth was declared a "masterpiece of oral and intangible cultural heritage" by UNESCO in 2005, and in 2008 it was included in the list of cultural assets of the Intangible World Heritage.

THE CLOSE SYMBIOSIS BETWEEN MAN AND TREE BARK IS ANCIENT

The constantly renewing bark of the East African fig tree "Mutuba" is harvested annually without cutting down the tree. It is the basis for a wide range of textiles and composite materials, which are obtained through energy-efficient, partly completely CO2-free processes and sold under the name BARKTEX®. An ancient myth from Uganda reports that man stepped through the fig tree to take possession of it. Modern archaeology confirms Africa as the cradle of mankind. And any connoisseur who has ever held a piece of bark cloth in his hands understands the essence of this myth: the close symbiosis between man and tree bark as an ancient, mature relationship.

TRIBOO AND JHON CAMPO BRING TWO WORLDS TOGETHER

In order to finish furniture responsibly and ecologically with textiles, TRIBOO and Jhon Campo started working together. TRIBOO was looking for a textile to finish its acoustic applications built from #GREENGRIDZ furniture construction panels and EverUse circular acoustic insulation. Of course not an ordinary textile but a textile with a sustainable story. Specialist Jhon Campo, who has been working in the interior industry for 30 years and specializes in sustainable textiles, offered the solution with his knowledge of an ecological textile that dates back to the beginning of mankind.

CIRCULAR PHILOSOPHY AS STARTING POINT FOR HIGH-PROFILE HEALTHY DESIGN

With a great deal of experience and the combination of both fields of knowledge, modular acoustic panels, wall systems and other interior solutions have been developed to design the office in a healthy, high-profile and circular way.

TREE BARK FITS 100% INTO BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Biophilic design responds to the innate human need to be in touch with nature. Research shows that a biophilic environment reduces stress and thus has a positive effect on the health of the users. Interesting from a business perspective because healthy employees are more productive, resulting in higher profits.
