OFFICE ROYAL FLORA HOLLAND CIRCULARLY DESIGNED WITH #GREENGRIDZ WORKTOPS

373 KG OF MATERIAL AND 60% CO2 SAVED ON 134 DESKS AND 26 TABLES.

In 2019, Royal Flora Holland asked the market to design its new sustainable office Floradome in Aalsmeer in a circular way. From waste to reusable raw material. To give substance to this integral question, a great deal of innovation and strength had to be brought together. A mission that GISPEN succeeded in doing with flying colours by formulating the winning solution together with its partners. One solution that scored high on the sustainability ladder was the lightweight #GREENGRIDZ furniture construction panel by TRIBOO. It allowed the worktops of desks and tables of all shapes and sizes to be assembled with 373 kg less material and 60% less CO2. The raw material from which #GREENGRIDZ is made comes from the waste streams of the wood industry. A perfect match when it comes to a company that is all about trees, plants and flowers.

ROYAL FLORA HOLLAND CONSCIOUSLY OPTS FOR CIRCULAR #GREENGRIDZ WORKTOPS

It is a simple calculation. If you compare a traditional desk arrangement or table with the workstations and meeting tables offered by GISPEN and TRIBOO together, the figures show the difference demonstrably and irrefutably. Compared to traditional solid chipboard desktops, which are 1600x800mm in size, this easily saves 18 kg in material and 60% in CO2. On the R ladder of Lansink, not using material is the highest achievable goal and here #GREENGRIDZ hit the bull's eye. In addition, you won't have to reuse materials that you don't use and the raw materials used to make #GREENGRIDZ come from waste streams. In this way, our interior contributes to the goal of reducing the CO2 generated by our business operations and we give substance to SDG12 responsible consumption and production.

In total, 160 worktops of 24 and 30 mm thickness were required. Varying shapes from squares and rectangles to circles, ovals and triangles. All put together in a beautiful colour palette that reflects the identity of Royal Flora Holland.

TWO LEADING DUTCH PRODUCERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE TOGETHER

TRIBOO and GISPEN join forces as two leading Dutch manufacturers in reducing materials, reducing CO2 and using fibres from waste streams. In this way, they always produce close to their customers, create jobs and preserve craftsmanship and innovation for the Dutch manufacturing industry.

PEOPLE MAKE A DIFFERENCE THROUGH WILL

The people make the difference at all times. Martijn Meijer, passionate about circularity and working for Gispen for 21 years, Rudolf Scholtens of Royal HaskoningDHV and the project leader on behalf of the client Royal Flora Holland and Marc van der Heijden, director of TRIBOO challenged each other and found each other on the cutting edge when it comes to demonstrable sustainability. On the podcast that will be communicated shortly, you can learn about the challenges and bumps that people have to overcome in order to ultimately achieve a great result.
