The problem of waste is responsibility and disposal, and we are going to do something about it together!
Two leading companies from the international manufacturing industry are going to cooperate. TRIBOO from the Netherlands turns worthless waste into valuable circular office furniture and Wehlers from Denmark is a sustainable design furniture brand for the conscious consumer who does not want to compromise on design and quality. Marc van der Heijden, director of TRIBOO, and Maria Fryd Wehler and Henrik Holm, Wehlers' directors, aim the cooperation to create a larger market for raw materials that currently end up as waste in incinerators, under the ground or in the sea. The problem of waste is responsibility and sales, and together they are going to do something about it by producing high-profile circular furniture from waste and offering it to the market. The aim is to reduce the waste of raw materials to 0. As of today, Wehlers products are available through TRIBOO and they are very proud of it.
The RUM (ReUsedMaterials) chair is made of recycled materials from two different waste streams. Plastics from the sea and waste from the electronics industry. The plastic from the sea is collected and sorted in and around Denmark. The plastic comes from the Scandinavian seas and harbours. Mainly from Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Iceland, but also from international waters.
The raw materials for the RUM E-Waste are extracted from defective or obsolete electrical and electronic appliances such as old computers, printers and car equipment. These are sorted, cleaned, granulated and then melted into the dark/black plastic used in the RUM chair.
With every RUM chair that is put into use in the office, two kilos of worthless waste are turned into a valuable chair. These raw materials are saved from the incinerators and landfills by your choice. By choosing a circular product made from waste, you make the circular economy and waste-free society visible in the interior. You can show the sustainability, you can show that you give a practical interpretation to the sustainable development goals and go for less material, less CO2 and less waste.
The circular thinking can be seen in that only two materials have been used in the production of the RUM chair and that both materials can be 100% recycled for new furniture. The sustainable RUM chair is friendly, comfortable and practical, perfectly suited for use in companies and public spaces. A piece of design furniture that not only sits wonderfully, but also directly connects to the ambition we share with our customers for a green future. The dimensions are width 46 cm, seat height 47 cm and seat depth 43 cm.
Both companies not only make furniture, but they also take responsibility for the raw materials and thus close the cycle. All furniture can be returned at the end of its useful life. The customer receives the value of the raw materials back upon return, after which the furniture is converted into new raw materials.
