40 years of making and lugging heavy solid panels and furniture has worn out my body.
Wilfred Verbruggen was born on December 14, 1966 in Dreumel, a picturesque village in the land of maas and waal. Wilfred knew at an early age, he wanted to work with his hands. Always busy making things, boats from wooden shoes or a field hockey stick for on the ice, what his eyes saw his hands could make.
Wilfred was a real doer and after the LTS went to the MTS only to find out that he didn't feel like learning anymore but wanted to start earning money. In his father's carpentry business they made kitchens and furniture. Anything that could be made of wood they did. Wood is beautiful but also heavy and there was a lot of lifting to do, both in the making and in bringing it to the customers and installing it. Heavy work which had its effect on his body. He learned a lot in the carpentry business but ultimately could not find his niche there.
After several years of operating as an independent contractor, a number of setbacks prevented him from profitably operating his own carpentry shop, paint shop and showroom. He chose to pursue various occupations as an employee until he received a call from GISPEN, the well-known Dutch furniture manufacturer.
He was able to start as a field service technician. For the first few months he would go through all the product lines to gain experience with the products. That stuck to one and he stood all day screwing together desks, something that was not his thing and that Wilfred soon got tired of. GISPEN also noticed this and Wilfred was able to go outside to develop his enormous talent on beautiful projects such as ABN AMRO, High School of Eindhoven and even jobs carried out in Paris.
40 years of lugging heavy panels and furniture has had a negative effect on his body. Both ankle ligaments ruptured, the meniscus in both knees, worn out lower back for which he is treated every 6 weeks by a chiropractor, tunnel syndrome in both wrists, tennis elbows and recently an incipient hardening of a muscle in his hand and a finger that sometimes dislocates.
It's very important to pay attention to what you're doing with your body. And it's great that there's a company like TRIBOO that is capitalizing on this with #greengridz furniture construction panels. Instead of the weight of a solid furniture panel, you're going in with only a third of the weight. I think TRIBOO hits the nail on the head with this product and I hope I get to work with #greengridz many more times.
This, in brief, was the life story of Wilfred Verbruggen. The main lesson he wants to share with everyone is obvious, simple and very clear!
