The bath is 100% made of thermoplastic rubber, without any additives. A completely reusable and circular product: the bath of the future.
At the ISH Noveltieshow Dekker presents the first prototype of a circular bath. The bath is 100% produced of thermoplastic (meltable) rubber, without any additives. Thus a fully reusable and circular product: the bath of the future.
Dekker has engaged a designer together with Marc van der Heijden of TRIBOO as initiator. The design was inspired by the sea and life forms in the sea, including the Sessilia, or barnacles. A parametric structure of hexagons has been used as a basis to build up the shape; it embraces the bathtub.
The rubber feels soft and pleasantly warm and moves with the shape of your body. The bath is designed with a high rim to create a relaxing private atmosphere that is enhanced by the changing blue tones.
A robotic arm with 3D printing head printed the bath in 24 hours at a speed of 15 cm per second. The bath consists of more than 500 layers and is double-walled for extra insulation and strength.
The Sessilia can now be seen for the first time during the ISH Novelty Show in Nieuwegein. Visit the Dekker stand and get to know the bath of the future.
